As for the Resurrection, dispute is widespread
The Resurrection will be fraught with contention,
concerning it, and its dark side is not brought into the open.
And nothing can save its wicked ones from perdition.

Some groups have said, 'A pearl afloat has no
It will say to the pearls floating aimlessly one day,
return, ever, to the darkness of oyster shells.'
"To the darkness of seas, O pearls, make your way!"
وَبَدائِعُand the wonders اللَهِof God القَديرِthe Almighty كَثيرَةٌare many
فَيَحورُso it turns back فيهاamid them لُبُّناour reason وَيَحارُand is bewildered
And the wonders of God Almighty are many;
Numerous are the marvels made by the Almighty,
so our reason turns back before them, bewildered.
Where our minds fail and get lost, try as they might.

مِنهاfrom them يُؤَلَّفُare composed لِلكَلامِfor speech بِحارُoceans

These letters form but a single line of verse,
from them, oceans of speech are composed.
From which speech can be woven - how strange and terse!
أَفهِمmake understand أَخاكَyour brother بِماwith whatever تَشاءُyou wish وَلاand do not تُبَلcare
ياO حارِḤāri قُلتَyou said هُناكَthere أَوor ياO حارُḤāru
Make your brother understand however you wish; do not mind
Make your brother understand as you desire,
whether you say there, 'O Ḥāri,' or 'O Ḥāru.'
By saying "O Confused" or "O Perplexed" entire.
غَرَضُaim الفَتىthe young man الإِخبارُconveying information عَمّاabout what عِندَهُhe has
وَمِنَand among الرِجالِmen بِقَولِهِwith his speech سَحّارُa master enchanter
A young man's aim is to convey what he has in mind;
A man's aim is to report what is in his heart,
and some men cast spells with their speech.
And through his words a magician's role he'll chart.
لَمdid not تَأتِcome آصاليmy evenings بِماwith anything for which أَناI شاكِرٌam grateful
مِنهاfrom them فَتَفعَلَso they might do مِثلَهُthe like of it الأَسحارُthe predawn hours
My evenings have brought me nothing to be grateful for,
My nights did not bring what I'm thankful for,
that the predawn hours should do likewise.
Else mornings would have done the same and more.
