My skin has shriveled, and the nights keep shriveling it,
My cheeks wrinkled, and the nights wrinkled,
and give it vowel marks like letters, and dot it.
And declension declensions letters and dots,

And calamities have spread [darkness] over it,
And spread in accidents blanks,
and none but death's hand gathers it up.
And has only the hand of death is picked up,

He longs for his peers and his youth,
Yearns for his peers and youth,
as a tethered, weaned camel calf yearns.

They say gray hair brings abundant forbearance;
They say in old age generous dream,
they speak truly of it, yet in it he despairs.
They were right in it and in it despair,

When a man's life grows long, his patience dwindles,
If the age of man prolonged his patience,
and his one distinction in it is entanglement.
And confirm something from him in trap,

And if he was not from the mercy of God despairing,
he despairs of his life, however long it lasts.
From his age though prolonged does not despair,

We have found that the very eager man was not gray-haired,
We saw a lot of greed not marred,
and all young men are envied for noble deeds.
And every youth in the virtues envied,

He [deems death distant], though death is beside him,
And cite death and death in it,
and considers this world near, though his own world is more perilous.
And bring the world closer and its world is more complex,

Cradle-clothes end in a burial shroud,
The consequence of the clothes of the cradle is the shroud,
and saffron perfume's last chapter is anointing the dead.
And the last date of creatures is embalming,

How strange is one beguiled by a lowly world:
It is strange to be deluded by a low world,
the safety it gives him is ruin, yet is envied.
His safety from it is remote and fortunate,

If its good ends in the worst that you see,
If the consequence of its good is the evil you see,
then abandoning sin for repentance is more prudent.
Then leaving the acquisition of sin for repentance is more cautious,

So the hungry dog did not turn away from you, so satiate it,

And I have aromatic herbs and a halting place,
