Yearning with intense longing held off from water,
From water by a lion unfailing in his leaps.

When relaxed, his forehead furls and folds.

Confronting me with leap upon leap in a single assault.
In wakefulness or slumber it leaps at me.

By my life, the daughters of time have grayed my hair's parting,
By my life, time's daughters have turned my temples white,
Yet with my graying hair I was no father to daughters.
Yet in my white hair, I'm no father to girls.

Fate's passing days have saddened me,
And at every moment come heartbreak and separation.
And every moment brings shock and dispersal.

Griefs arrive, filling the directions—all the directions around me.
But sorrows come, filling the horizons.

I'm left with but memories of him.

Ambushing me while awake or napping.
