ألا كم مدعٍ للَه تائبٌ

Oh how many claim repentance to God

Yet are liars in what they claim.

Yet in what they claim, they are liars

فإن التائبين لهم طريق

فإن التائبين لهم طريق

تدل على مواضيه الرغائب

تدل على مواضيه الرغائب

For the repentant have a path,

For the truly repentant have a path

Their yearnings pointing to its course;

That shows the way to their desires

وبغض للذي كانوا عليه

وبغض للذي كانوا عليه

وحب للذي للَه واجب

وحب للذي للَه واجب

And hatred for what they once followed,

And hatred for what they used to be

And love for what is owed to God;

And love for what is duty to God

وهجران الكرى حيث البرايا

وهجران الكرى حيث البرايا

بهم مال الكرى والليل كاثب

بهم مال الكرى والليل كاثب

And forsaking slumber while humankind

And leaving off vices where wastelands lie

Are swayed by sleep and night closes in.

At night their hearts pierced with fear

تبيت قلوبهم فيها وجيب

تبيت قلوبهم فيها وجيب

لخوفهم وأدمعهم سواكب

لخوفهم وأدمعهم سواكب

Their hearts spend the night pounding

Their tears falling like shooting stars

From fear, while their tears stream down.

For their fear of God the lies did end
