  1. ووردة تحكي بسبق الورد

    طليعة تسرعت من جندِ

    And a rose, in preceding the other roses, resembles

    a vanguard that has hurried ahead of an army.

  2. قد ضمها في الغصن قرص البرد

    ضم فم لقبلة من بعدِ

    The nip of cold has closed it on the bough,

    as a mouth purses for a kiss from afar.
