يا خالِياً بِالمَعاصي

يا خالِياً بِالمَعاصي

كُفيتَ عُقبى الخُلُوِّ

كُفيتَ عُقبى الخُلُوِّ

O you alone with sins,

O you empty of sin

may you be spared the consequences of solitude.

You have sufficed the consequence of isolation

لَئِن اَمِنتَ الأَعادي

لَئِن اَمِنتَ الأَعادي

فَالنَفسُ أَدنى عَدُوِّ

فَالنَفسُ أَدنى عَدُوِّ

If indeed you are safe from enemies,

If you feel safe from enemies

then the self is the nearest foe.

Then the soul is the nearest enemy
