ياO مالِكاًmaster حَسبيenough for me بِهِwith him حَسبيenough for me
يا مالِكاً حَسبي بِهِ حَسبي
كَمhow far تَبعُدُis distant العُتبىreconciliation عَنfrom العَتْبِreproach
كَم تَبعُدُ العُتبى عَن العَتْبِ
O master—he is enough for me, enough for me!
How far reconciliation lies from reproach!
الذَنبُthe fault ذَنبُكَyour fault لَستَyou are not تَجحَدُهُyou deny it
الذَنبُ ذَنبُكَ لَستَ تَجحَدُهُ
وَقَدand indeed اِعتَرَفتَyou have admitted بِهِto it فَهَبso forgive ذَنبيmy fault
وَقَد اِعتَرَفتَ بِهِ فَهَب ذَنبي
The fault is yours; you do not deny it.
And you have admitted it, so forgive my fault.
فيin العَينِthe eye غَيبٌa secret بَعدُstill أَعرِفُهُI know it
في العَينِ غَيبٌ بَعدُ أَعرِفُهُ
إِنَّindeed العُيونَthe eyes طَليعَةُthe vanguard القَلبِthe heart
إِنَّ العُيونَ طَليعَةُ القَلبِ
Within the eye is a secret I still discern.
Indeed, the eyes are the heart’s scouts.
