لو تَأخُذونِ بِساعَةٍ

مِن وَصلِكُم عُمري جَميعا

If you took an hour

Of my life with your company

لَرَغِبتُ في أَن تَشتَري

إِن كُنتَ تَرضى أَن تَبيعا

I would be inclined to let you buy

If you would agree to sell

وَمُفارِقينَ مَعَ الصَبا

عَزماً فَهَل أَرجو الطُلوعا

And depart with my youth

Determined, can I hope for the sunrise

أَقَسَمتُ لَو رَجَعوا لِأَع

قَبَني الصِبا مَعَهُم رُجوعا

I swore if they returned I would

Meet my youth with their return

هَبنَكُم مَنَعتُم قُربَكُم

وَلَبِستُمُ بُعداً مَنوعا

You refused me, you denied your nearness

And dressed in forbidden remoteness

أَفَتَمنَعونَ بِكُم ضُلوعاً

قَد شَقينَ بِكُم وَلوعا

Will you forbid me ribs

That have suffered agony for your sake

ما غايَتي إِلّا الدُمو

عُ وَأَستَقِلُّ لَكَ الدُموعا

I have no ambition but tears

And I hold your tears too dear
