شَكَرتُI thanked لِدَهريto my fate جَمعَهُits bringing together الدارَthe abode مَرَّةًonce
شَكَرتُ لِدَهري جَمعَهُ الدارَ مَرَّةً
وَتِلكَand that يَدٌa favor عِنديwith me لَهُto its credit لاnot أُضيعُهاI neglect it
وَتِلكَ يَدٌ عِندي لَهُ لا أُضيعُها
I thanked my fate for once bringing us together in one abode;
And that is a favor it has done me which I shall not forget.

And our lord’s countenance as he looks in on his servant,
And all the dwellings where that countenance has sojourned.

A heart he has watered—its burning thirst never returns;
And an eye that has seen him—its tears do not flow.
