And indeed the bough’s greening comes after softening,
Though the branch, when bent, turns green again
And indeed the full moon’s fullness comes at its waning.
And the full moon regains its shape anew
حَمىmay protect اللَهُGod مِنfrom حُمّاهُhis fever وَردَةَthe rose خَدِّهِhis cheek
فَلاso may it not مُلِّيَتbe granted lasting enjoyment مِنهُof him بِطيبِwith the sweetness of عِناقِهِhis embrace
May God protect the rose of his cheek from his fever,
God has kept the rosy cheeks of youth safe
So may that fever not long enjoy his sweet embrace.
From the sweetness of embraces passing through
وَمِمّاand among what أَطابَgladdened النَفسَthe soul أَنَّthat سَقامَهُhis sickness

And among what gladdened the soul is that his sickness
And the heart is glad because every illness
Will be followed by union with healing through separation from it.
Will be followed by recovery and health when you are gone
