وَأَدعوand I pray لَهُfor him بِالعُمرِfor long life دَعوَةَthe prayer صادِقٍof a sincere man
وَأَدعو لَهُ بِالعُمرِ دَعوَةَ صادِقٍ
وَآيَةُand the sign نُجحِof success القَصدِof the aim فيin الصِدقِsincerity فيin القَصدِthe intent
وَآيَةُ نُجحِ القَصدِ في الصِدقِ في القَصدِ
And I pray for him to live long, with the prayer of a sincere man.
And the sign of success in one's aim lies in sincerity of intent.
وَذَلِكَand that أَنّيthat I إِنif دَعَوتُI prayed لِعُمرِهِfor his life
وَذَلِكَ أَنّي إِن دَعَوتُ لِعُمرِهِ
وَجِئتُand I came بِمَدحيwith my praise جاءَهُcame to him المَدحُthe praise بِالخُلدِwith immortality
وَجِئتُ بِمَدحي جاءَهُ المَدحُ بِالخُلدِ
And that is because, if I pray for his long life,
And bring my praise, praise brings him immortality.
هَبِsuppose الناسَthe people قالواthey said مِثلَthe like of قَوليmy words بِقَولِهِمin their words
هَبِ الناسَ قالوا مِثلَ قَولي بِقَولِهِم
فَهَلthen do لَهُمthey have فيكَfor you الَّذيthat which فِيَّin me مِنof وُدِّaffection
فَهَل لَهُم فيكَ الَّذي فِيَّ مِن وُدِّ
Suppose people have said in their words the same as I have;
Then do they have for you the affection that is in me?
