أَيَرْكَبُهَاdoes he ride it? هَذَاthis man فَتَنْتَهِبُso it devours الثَّرَىthe ground
أَيَرْكَبُهَا هَذَا فَتَنْتَهِبُ الثَّرَى
وَتَنْهَبُand ravage رِجْلَيَّmy two feet الْحَصَىthe pebbles وَالْجَنَادِلُand the boulders؟!
وَتَنْهَبُ رِجْلَيَّ الْحَصَى وَالْجَنَادِلُ؟!
Shall this man ride it as it devours the ground,
Does he ride it to ravage the meadow
while pebbles and boulders ravage my feet?!
And ravage my feet with pebbles and shackles?!
رَضِيتُI resigned myself رِضَاءَthe resignation الْيَأْسِof despair، وَالْيَأْسُand despair رَاحَةٌrest
رَضِيتُ رِضَاءَ الْيَأْسِ، وَالْيَأْسُ رَاحَةٌ
وَأَتْعَبُand the weariest خَلْقِof the creatures اللهِof God فِيamong النَّاسِpeople آمِلُone who hopes!
وَأَتْعَبُ خَلْقِ اللهِ فِي النَّاسِ آمِلُ!
I resigned myself with despair's resignation, and despair is rest;
I have accepted the contentment of despair, and despair is rest
And among people, the weariest of God's creatures is one who hopes!
Yet I tire all of God's creation with hope among people!
