O Amro, woe to you, the one responding to your call has come
O 'Amr, woe to you! There has surely come to you

Not helpless, with intention and insight
The one who answers your challenge, neither weak nor incapable,

With a shiny strike whose reputation remains with the shaky ones
I truly hope that I shall soon invoke
over you a woman wailing at funerals,
The wailing women of funerals to mourn over you,

From a gaping wound, the renown of which shall last,
