لاdo not تَعتَبَنَّever reproach عَلىagainst العِبادِpeople فَإِنَّماfor … only
يَأتيكَcomes to you رِزقُكَyour provision حينَwhen يُؤذَنُpermission is given فيهِfor it
Never reproach people, for
Do not direct blame at the servants of God, for indeed,
your provision comes to you only when leave is given for it.
Your provision comes to you only when permission is granted.
سَبَقَpreceded القَضاءُthe decree لِوَقتِهِfor its appointed time فَكَأَنَّهُso it is as though it
يَأتيكَcomes to you حينَat الوَقتِthe appointed time أَوor تَأتيهِyou come to it
Its appointed time was decreed beforehand, so it is as though
Divine decree determined its time beforehand, so it is as if,
it comes to you at that time, or you come to it.
It comes to you at the moment, or you proceed toward it.
فَثِقso trust بِمَولاكَin your Lord الكَريمِthe generous فَإِنَّهُfor indeed He
بِالعَبدِtoward the servant أَرأَفَmore compassionate منthan أَبٍa father بِبَنيهِtoward his sons
So trust in your generous Lord, for He
So place your trust in your Generous Master, for He is,
is more compassionate toward a servant than a father toward his sons.
More compassionate to the servant than a father to his sons.
أوسعmake ample غِناكَyour wealth وَكنand be لِفَقرِكَof your poverty صائِناًa guardian
يَضنيwears down حَشاكَyour heart وَأَنتَwhile you لاdo not تُشفيهِheal it
Make your wealth ample, and keep your poverty concealed;
Display your sufficiency broadly and keep your poverty guarded,
it wears down your heart, while you leave it unhealed.
Even if it consumes your vitals while you seek no cure.
فَالحُرُّfor the noble man يَنحَلُemaciates جِسمُهُhis body إِعدامهُhis destitution
وَكَأَنَّهُand it is as though he مِنfrom جِسمِهِhis body يُخفيهِhides it
For a noble man's destitution wastes his body,
For the free man is wasted away by his destitution,
and it is as though he hides it from his own body.
As though he were hiding it from his very own body.
