بَلِrather السَلامَةُsafety فيهاin them أَعجَبُmost wondrous العَجَبِwonder
Misfortune in our days is no wonder.
Misfortune in our days is no cause for wonder,
Rather, safety in them is the greatest wonder of all.
Rather, safety within them is the wonder of wonders.
لَيسَis not الجَمالُbeauty بِأَثوابٍin garments تُزَيِّنُناadorn us
إِنَّindeed الجَمالَbeauty جَمالُthe beauty العَقلِintellect وَالأَدَبِand good manners
Beauty does not lie in garments that adorn us.
Beauty is not in the robes that adorn us,
Indeed, beauty is the beauty of intellect and good manners.
True beauty is the beauty of the intellect and good character.
لَيسَis not اليَتيمُthe orphan الَّذيthe one who قَدhas ماتَdied والِدُهُhis father
إِنَّindeed اليَتيمَthe orphan يَتيمُone bereft of العِلمِknowledge وَالأَدَبِand good manners
The orphan is not the one whose father has died.
The orphan is not the one whose father has died,
Indeed, the orphan is one bereft of knowledge and good manners.
The true orphan is the orphan of knowledge and manners.
