Like lions of a thicket and cubs of a wooded lair,

On the morning of battle, with bright, polished swords,

Excelling at swordplay and severing necks,

Before the eagle standard on the morning of combat,

Outwitting the liar and making the coward soil himself,

And blood from napes drenches the joints of spears.
