لِيَبكِlet him weep عَلىfor الاِسلامِIslam مَنwhoever كانَwas باكياًweeping
لِيَبكِ عَلى الاِسلامِ مَن كانَ باكياً
فَقَدfor indeed تُرِكَتhave been abandoned أَركانُهُits pillars وَمعالِمُهand its landmarks
فَقَد تُرِكَت أَركانُهُ وَمعالِمُه
Let whoever would weep weep for Islam.
Let him weep for Islam, whoever has tears to shed,
For its pillars and landmarks have been abandoned.
For its pillars and its landmarks have been forsaken.
لَقَدindeed ذَهَبَhas departed الاِسلامُIslam إِلّاexcept بَقيّةًa remnant
لَقَد ذَهَبَ الاِسلامُ إِلّا بَقيّةً
قَليلٌfew مِنَamong الناسِthe people الَّذيwho هُوَhe لازِمُهholding fast to it
قَليلٌ مِنَ الناسِ الَّذي هُوَ لازِمُه
Indeed, Islam has departed, save for a remnant.
Islam has departed, save for a mere remnant,
Few among the people are those who hold fast to it.
And few are the people who still hold fast to it.
