If this knowledge could be gained through wishes,
If knowledge could be gained by mere yearning,
If this knowledge could be gained by mere wishing,
no ignorant person would remain among humankind.
No ignorance would linger in the land.
Not a single ignorant soul would remain in creation.

Strive, and do not be lazy, and do not be heedless,
Strive and toil, do not be lazy or neglectful,
Strive hard, do not be lazy, and never be heedless,
for regret in the end awaits whoever is lazy.
For regret is the fate of the lazy man.
For the regret of the end belongs to the one who slacks.
