ضَرَبتُهُI struck him بِالسَيفِwith the sword فَوقَupon الهامَهthe crown of the head
ضَرَبتُهُ بِالسَيفِ فَوقَ الهامَه
بِضَربَةٍwith a blow صارِمَةٍcutting هَدّامَهdevastating
بِضَربَةٍ صارِمَةٍ هَدّامَه
I struck him with the sword on the crown of his head,
I struck him with the sword upon the crown of his head,
With a cutting, devastating blow.
With a sharp, devastating blow,
فَبَكَّتَتso it battered مِنfrom جَسمِهِhis body عِظامَهhis bones
فَبَكَّتَت مِن جَسمِهِ عِظامَه
وَبَيَّنَتand it revealed مِنfrom أَنفِهِhis nose أَرغامَهhis abasement
وَبَيَّنَت مِن أَنفِهِ أَرغامَه
So it battered the bones within his body,
That shattered the bones within his frame,
And showed his nose brought low in humiliation.
And ground his nose into the dust of humiliation.
