I see a concealed war and peace,

I see a hidden war and peace

And a covenant that is no firm covenant.

أَرى أَمراً تُنَقَّضُ عُروَتاهُ

وَحَبلاً لَيسَ بِالحَبلِ الوَثيقِ

وَحَبلاً لَيسَ بِالحَبلِ الوَثيقِ

I see an affair whose two loops are being undone,

I see a thing whose links are loosed,

I see a matter whose bonds are unraveling,

And a rope that is no sturdy rope.

And a rope not firmly wound.

And a rope that is not a sturdy rope.
