مالي عَلى فَوتِ فائِتٍ أَسَفُ

وَلا تَراني عَلَيهِ أَلتَهِفُ

I hold no sorrow for the passing of what is gone,

Nor will you see me yearning for it in distress.

ما قَدَّرَ اللَهُ لِي فَلَيسَ لَهُ

عَنّي إِلى سِوايَ مُنصَرِفُ

Whatever Allah has decreed to be mine

Can never turn away from me to go to another.

فَالحَمدُ لِلّهِ لا شَريكَ لَهُ

ماليَ قوتٌ وَهَمّيَ الشَرَفُ

So praise be to Allah, Who has no partner;

I possess no sustenance, yet my sole concern is honor.

أَنا راضٍ بِالعسرِ وَاليَسارِ فَما

تُدخلُني ذِلَةً وَلا صَلفُ

I am content with both hardship and ease,

Which bring me neither abasement nor arrogance.
