جوابُك في لفظ تكرّر نصفهُ

وأكثرهُ في شاهق الأرض ينزلُ

وأكثرهُ في شاهق الأرض ينزلُ

Your answer lies in a word whose half is repeated;

Your answer in a word that repeats its half

And most of it dwells on the earth's lofty heights.

And most of it descends on the high earth

وقولك في سُكناهُمُ نصفُ وصفهم

وقولك في سُكناهُمُ نصفُ وصفهم

كذلك في نصف به الوصفُ يكملُ

كذلك في نصف به الوصفُ يكملُ

And your word for their dwelling is half their description;

And your saying in their dwellings half of their description

Likewise in a half through which the description becomes complete.

Thus with half the description completes

وفي نصفه اسمان طرداً وعكسهُ

وفي نصفه اسمان طرداً وعكسهُ

لمن ليس عن حالي وحالك يغفلُ

لمن ليس عن حالي وحالك يغفلُ

And in its half are two names, read forward and backward,

And in its half two names, consistency and its opposite

For one who is not heedless of my state and yours.

For one who is not oblivious of my state and yours

وفي النّخل يُلفى عكسُ قُوت قُلوبهم

وفي النّخل يُلفى عكسُ قُوت قُلوبهم

مع الضّمّ في ذا النصف إن كنت تعقلُ

مع الضّمّ في ذا النصف إن كنت تعقلُ

And in the date palms is found the reverse of their hearts' sustenance,

And in the palm trees the opposite of the strength of their hearts is found

With a u-vowel in this half, if you understand.
