ما بقبق الكوزُ إلا من تألّمه

يشكو إلى الماء ما قسى من النّار

يشكو إلى الماء ما قسى من النّار

The jug gurgled only because of its pain;

The jug makes noise only when pained,

It complains to the water of what it suffered from the fire.

Complaining to water of the fire's disdain.

لو كل كلب عوى القمته حجراً

لو كل كلب عوى القمته حجراً

لأصبح الصخر مثقال بدينار

If you put a stone into the mouth of every dog that howled,
