1. مذ بدا عارُضهُ أمطر من

    مُقلتي دمعا غدا يغمرُنا

    Since the down on his cheek appeared, it rained from

    my eye—tears that came to engulf us.

  2. قال العذّالُ ما هذا البكا

    قُلتُ هذا عارُضُ ممطرنا

    The reproachers said, “What is this weeping?”

    I said, “This is a rain cloud showering us.”
