O you whose deeds among the people are praised,

your equal is nowhere to be found in these times.

No one in distress has come to your door and sought refuge there,

    then returned brokenhearted, driven away.

The days of humankind vied over you in envy,

and a man of merit is envious in these times.

    So your affairs are referred to no one;

rather, every matter is now referred to you.

And excellence is seen as yours alone,

enduring and extending through the span of days.

Others’ bounty to suppliants has a limit, but

your growing bounty to those who ask is boundless.

You opened a door for creation’s benefit, when

every door had previously stood closed.

For generosity is your habit; you never cease to practice it,

and the doer of good is praised among the people.

You ennobled the standing of those of noble learning; thus

they are unanimous in acknowledging your excellence.

So some of them have attained what they hope and long for,

and others have been promised exalted rank by you.

May your days ever be seen at the zenith of good fortune,

and may your lucky star be blessed with prosperity.

And may there ever remain, as your noble self desires,

a son through whom your flourishing house is sought out.
