وليل طويل من مغيبك سيّدي
سهرتُI kept vigil وخلانand the companions المنازلthe mansions تنظرُlook on
سهرتُ وخلان المنازل تنظرُ
My night has been long since you disappeared, my lord—
And a long night in your absence, my lord—
I kept vigil while the companions of the lunar mansions watched,
I kept vigil while the companions of the mansions looked on,
إلىuntil أنthat بداappeared الفرعthe branch المقدّمthe foremost قالit said قمrise
إلى أن بدا الفرع المقدّم قال قم
لهto it قلتI said حتىuntil يستبانbecomes visible المؤخرthe rearward one
له قلت حتى يستبان المؤخر
until the Fore Branch appeared and said, “Rise.”
until the foremost branch appeared; it said, “Rise.”
I answered it, “Not until the Rear Branch comes clearly into view.”
I said to it, “Not until the rearward one comes into view.”
