Exult, O Sfax, and take pride for all time.

How wondrous your mosque, which has no equal!

سيما بمحراب تكامل حُسنهُ

سيما بمحراب تكامل حُسنهُ

ويزيدُ في نظر اللّبيب جلالهُ

ويزيدُ في نظر اللّبيب جلالهُ

Especially its prayer niche, whose beauty has reached perfection,

And whose majesty grows in the eyes of the discerning.

أبدى المنيفُ به المعلّم طاهرٌ

أبدى المنيفُ به المعلّم طاهرٌ

ما رقّ من نقش وراق جمالهُ

ما رقّ من نقش وراق جمالهُ

The eminent master Tahir displayed within it

Delicate carving whose beauty delighted.

حتّى تكامل قلتُ فيه مؤرخاً

حتّى تكامل قلتُ فيه مؤرخاً

محرابُ مسجدك انتهى إكمالهُ

محرابُ مسجدك انتهى إكمالهُ

Once it was complete, I said of it, recording its date:

Your mosque’s prayer niche has reached completion.
