بغرّته اهتدي للقلب شوقي

لذاك تحيّرت منهُ الدّراري

لذاك تحيّرت منهُ الدّراري

By his radiant brow, my longing found its way to the heart.

His smile guided my heart's yearning

For that reason, the radiant stars were bewildered by him.

For that reason, young women were confused by him

محاسنهُ غدت بالبدر تُزري

محاسنهُ غدت بالبدر تُزري

فوا شجوي ولهفي بالزّواري

فوا شجوي ولهفي بالزّواري

His charms have come to put the full moon to shame.

His beauty rivaled the full moon

So, oh my grief and my yearning for al-Zuwari!

So alas my anguish and burning in [my] breast!
