ولمّا تمادت على مُهجتي

ولمّا تمادت على مُهجتي

لواذعُ سُمّ الهوى النّاقع

لواذعُ سُمّ الهوى النّاقع

And when my heart was relentlessly assailed

When the pangs of love's poison speared my heart,

by the burning stings of love’s deadly poison,

And no intercessor could your face implore,

ولا قيتُ من وجهك شافعا

ولا قيتُ من وجهك شافعا

طلبتُ الأمان من الشّافع

طلبتُ الأمان من الشّافع

and I found an intercessor in your face,

I sought the Prophet's aid, for he could scout

I sought safety from the intercessor.

A path to lead me to your mercy's door.
