Ah, shall I see an ending to this abridgment of a body,
Alas! Do I see an end to this frail body
made so by languid eyelids that have drawn out my lovesickness?
With the sickness of eyelids that lingered in passion's disease?

The darkness, on my flowing tears and awaited star?

For me with you, like knots on my cheeks they shed blood.

will it then one day replace war with peace toward my heart,
Will it change from war to peace one day?

My promise, I would find the moon had come to visit in the darkness,

A high-minded man ascribed to Gharyan; indeed he
A protector, to whom the eminent in lineage turn
is, in every discipline, the crown of its lofty treasures.
For he is the crown of every sublime science,

When they boast in praising a scholar
and the praised man is measured against him, the fault-finder prevails.
And he is compared to the praised, the slanderer feels shame.

If he discusses legal theory, he is a flame
racing in understanding against the gray steeds among the black.
Racing in comprehension with the shooting stars.
