باذل المال دُونهُ والحياة
A young gazelle, whose love has made a miser
The one who was once generous with his love
Of one who gives wealth and life for his sake.
Is now miserly with his wealth and life

كلّ يوم ويلي من الزّيّات
Fond of oils, he takes his measure of them
Obsessed is he with luxuries, gathering them
Every day—woe to me from the oil seller!
More trinkets every day to please his vanity
