A book gathering from every art,

Mirroring a garden in splendor and pride.

Al-Kunnāsh is ascribed to me when it is named,

And as a chronogram, when attributed to it.

So, what a compendium you are, peerless in beauty!

For what it contains has no equal.

    لذاك الحسنُ مقصورٌ عليه

    Husayn undertook the embroidery of its robe;

Thus its beauty belongs to him alone.

And that embroidery baffled every scholar,

Wise in every branch of knowledge in which he spoke.

So, what a book you are! If we compose its chronogram,

You see: it has excelled in every branch of knowledge.
