عِلَّةَO illness البَدرِthe full moon راقِبيbe mindful of اللَهَGod فيهِregarding him
لاdo not تَضُرّيcause harm بِجِسمِهِto his body وَدَعيهِand leave him
O illness of the full moon, be mindful of God regarding him.
O moon's flaw, fear God in it
Do not harm his body, and leave him be.
Do not harm its body, leave it be
وَدَعيand leave سَيّديmy master وَدونَكِand take for yourself جِسميmy body
مَنزِلاًas a dwelling ماnot حَلَلتِهِyou have entered it فَاِسكُنيهِso dwell in it
And leave my master, and take my body
And leave my master be, and below you is my body
As a dwelling you have not entered—so dwell in it.
A house, wherever you make it lawful, reside in it
أَناI أَقوىmore capable عَلىof اِحتِمالِكِbearing you مِنهُthan he is
حَمِّلينيmake me bear أَضعافَmultiples of ماwhat يَشتَكيهِhe complains of it
I am better able than he to bear you.
I am stronger than him at bearing you
Make me bear many times what he suffers.
Load me multiples of what he complains of
وَاِتَّقيand fear اللَهَGod فيregarding غَزالٍa gazelle رَبيبٍhand-reared
ماnot لَهُhe has فيin جَمالِهِhis beauty مِنany شَبيهِequal
And fear God regarding a hand-reared gazelle,
And fear God in a dear gazelle
Who has no equal in his beauty.
Who has no equal in his beauty
