يَشتاقُyearns كُلُّevery غَريبٍexile عِندَduring غُربَتِهِhis exile
وَيَذكُرُand remembers الأَهلَthe family وَالجيرانَand the neighbors وَالوَطَناand the homeland
Every exile yearns when far from home,
Every stranger longs in his estrangement
And remembers his family, neighbors, and homeland.
And recalls his family, neighbors and homeland
وَلَيسَand there is no ليfor me وَطَنٌa homeland أَمسَيتُI have come to be أَذكُرُهُI remember it
إِلّاexcept المَقابِرَthe graveyards إِذsince صارَتthey became لَهُمfor them وَطَناa homeland
And I have no homeland I now recall
Yet I have no homeland left to remember
Except the graveyards, since they became a homeland for them.
Except graves, now their homeland
