Through you, the steadfast's mighty deed has shown generosity;

With your firm hand you destroy the thrones of the wicked,

it demolishes the wicked's thrones with overwhelming power.

And battle the dwarves of unbelievers with wounds,

يجاهد أقزام الملاحد جارحاٌ

يجاهد أقزام الملاحد جارحاٌ

ويثخن ضرب الحازمين المبرزِ

ويثخن ضرب الحازمين المبرزِ

It battles the atheists' dwarfs, dealing wounds,

And stab the insides of the apostates with your actions,

and the resolute men's outstanding blows inflict deep wounds.

And confront the gang of deniers grinding teeth.

ويطعن جوف المارقين بفعله

ويطعن جوف المارقين بفعله

يقارع رهط الجاحدين المهرزِ

يقارع رهط الجاحدين المهرزِ

And through its action it pierces the renegades' innards,

So the mighty scheme against the enemy with conquest,

clashing with the deniers' battered band.

And ward off with blows the frivolity of fools.

فحُول يكيدون العدو بقهره

فحُول يكيدون العدو بقهره

يصدون بغي العابثين المقفزِ

يصدون بغي العابثين المقفزِ

Champions plot against the enemy, subduing him,

Men who ready their souls for Paradise,

repelling the reckless men's jolting aggression.

With the numbers of the generous equipped and organized.

رجال يعدون النفوس لجنة

رجال يعدون النفوس لجنة

على الصدق أعداد الكريم المجهزِ

على الصدق أعداد الكريم المجهزِ

Men who ready their souls for Paradise,

So O people of the creed of Afghanistan, you

in sincerity—the preparation of a noble, well-equipped man.

Restore the glory of the predecessors accomplished,

فياأهل أفغان العقيدة إنكم

فياأهل أفغان العقيدة إنكم

تعيدون مجد السابقين المنجزِ

تعيدون مجد السابقين المنجزِ

So, O Afghan people of faith, you indeed

You return a full moon in its dark night O youth,

restore the glory won by those who came before.

And bring joy to the hearts of oath breakers.

تعيدون بدراً في وغاها فتية

تعيدون بدراً في وغاها فتية

ترج قلوب الناكثين الملكزِ

ترج قلوب الناكثين الملكزِ

You revive Badr amid its fray, young men,

You take the souls of losers with your crawl,

shaking the oath-breakers' battered hearts,

And charge fiercely sparking belief.

وتزهق نفس الخاسرين بزحفها

وتزهق نفس الخاسرين بزحفها

تصول بضرب المؤمنين المحفزِ

تصول بضرب المؤمنين المحفزِ

and extinguishing the losers' lives with its advance,

You rise with the sun of conquerors radiantly,

charging with the believers' rousing blows.

And strike with bombardment the cowardly weakened.

تطل بشمس الفاتحين برُوقها

تطل بشمس الفاتحين برُوقها

تزج بقصف الغادرين المنهزِ

تزج بقصف الغادرين المنهزِ

Its lightning flashes appear with the conquerors' sun,

You unleash upon them what will destroy their groups,

hurling a jolting bombardment against the treacherous.

And eliminate the remnants of losing miserable ones.

تشن عليهم ما يبيد جموعهم

تشن عليهم ما يبيد جموعهم

تقض فلول الخاسرين المعوزِ

تقض فلول الخاسرين المعوزِ

It launches against them what annihilates their hosts,

The generous who build up all determination,

crushing the losers' destitute remnants.

And seek the virtue of devoted successful ones.

كرام يشيدون العزيمة كلها

كرام يشيدون العزيمة كلها

يرومون فضل العابدين المفوزِ

يرومون فضل العابدين المفوزِ

Noble men build resolve to the full,

Did they not succeed in what they did to their enemy?

seeking the worshippers' success-bringing merit.

Did they not defeat the nose of the despised wicked?

ألم يفلحوا ما أحدثوا في عدوهم

ألم يفلحوا ما أحدثوا في عدوهم

ألم يراغموا أنف الخبيث المخنزِ

ألم يراغموا أنف الخبيث المخنزِ

Have they not succeeded in what they wrought upon their enemy?

He transgressed upon the people of virtue and prohibition,

Have they not rubbed the stinking villain's nose in the dust?

With what his despicable soul goaded and prodded,

تعدى على أهل الفضيلة والنهى

تعدى على أهل الفضيلة والنهى

بما سولت نفس الحقير الموخزِ

بما سولت نفس الحقير الموخزِ

He transgressed against the people of virtue and wisdom,

And he thought the people were easy prey,

at the urging of the contemptible, goading man's soul.

And did not care for the people of distinction.

وقد ظن ان القوم سهل قناتهم

وقد ظن ان القوم سهل قناتهم

ولم يكترث أهل الطعان المميزِ

ولم يكترث أهل الطعان المميزِ

And he thought the people's spear-shaft would bend easily,

So they made him taste the disgrace of time,

and paid no heed to the masters of distinguished spear-work.

And showed the regiments of treason hoarding.

أذاقو بكم خزي الزمان وأظهروا

أذاقو بكم خزي الزمان وأظهروا

جحافل كفر الخائنين المكنزِ

جحافل كفر الخائنين المكنزِ

Through you, they made them taste the shame of the age, and exposed

Thus they upheld the word of God and His religion,

the amassed hosts of the traitors' unbelief.

And championed through it the best righteous generosity.

فأعلوا بها قول الإله ودينه

فأعلوا بها قول الإله ودينه

وأسدوا بها خير الصنيع المجوزِ

وأسدوا بها خير الصنيع المجوزِ

Thus, through it, they exalted God's word and His religion,

That is only what settled firmly in them,

and through it rendered the finest permitted service.

Of truth, religion, pure and sculpted.

وما ذاك إلا ماترسخ فيهم

وما ذاك إلا ماترسخ فيهم

من الحق والدين الحنيف المروزِ

من الحق والدين الحنيف المروزِ

And that is nothing but what has taken root in them

They acknowledged the core of law among themselves,

of truth and the tested, upright faith.

And did good by striking corrupters restricted.

أقروا على صلب الشريعة بينهم

أقروا على صلب الشريعة بينهم

أبروا بقصف المفسدين المؤززِ

أبروا بقصف المفسدين المؤززِ

They agreed upon the core of religious law among themselves.

Whoever betrayed the trust amongst them,

They kept faith through a stirring bombardment of the corrupters.

Tasted the diaspora of schemers chained.

وما كان منهم من يخون امانة

وما كان منهم من يخون امانة

أذاقوا شتات الماكرين المعنزِ

أذاقوا شتات الماكرين المعنزِ

And none among them would betray a trust;

Homelands of faith and people of law,

they made the spear-struck schemers taste dispersal.

Walking the straight path secured.

مواطن إيمان وأهل شريعة

مواطن إيمان وأهل شريعة

تسير على الهدي الصحيح المحرزِ

تسير على الهدي الصحيح المحرزِ

Abodes of faith, and people of religious law,

Vicious slanderers who ignite its hellfire,

following true, safeguarded guidance.

Specifically suppressing the humiliated weak.

أشاوش طعن يشعلون سعيرها

أشاوش طعن يشعلون سعيرها

يخصونها قمع الذليل المعكزِ

يخصونها قمع الذليل المعكزِ

Valiant spearmen kindle its blaze,

Waging it as a right to make their opponent taste,

devoting it to subduing the abject, staff-struck man.

Kinds of afflictions in disgrace buckled.

يخوضونها حق يذيقون خصمهم

يخوضونها حق يذيقون خصمهم

صنوف البلايا في الهوان المرجزِ

صنوف البلايا في الهوان المرجزِ

They plunge into it justly, making their foe taste

Agile racers who terrify their hated ones,

kinds of affliction amid tormenting humiliation.

Hunting them with the grip of the strong decisive.

خفاف سراع يرهبون بغيضهم

خفاف سراع يرهبون بغيضهم

يريعونه بطش القوي الموجزِ

يريعونه بطش القوي الموجزِ

Nimble and swift, they terrify their hated foe,

And owners of determination whom desires did not betray,

alarming him with the strong man's brief onslaught.

And armies of strength in struggle controlled.

وأصحاب عزم لم تخنهم حلومهم

وأصحاب عزم لم تخنهم حلومهم

وأجناد عز في الجهاد المحوزِ

وأجناد عز في الجهاد المحوزِ

And men of resolve whose judgment has not betrayed them,

And lords of war whom its havoc did not scare,

and armies of honor in the jihad they have won,

Nor did the fancy attire of silk demoralize.

وأسياد حرب لم يخفهم هديرها

وأسياد حرب لم يخفهم هديرها

ولم يثنهم وشي الحرير المطرزِ

ولم يثنهم وشي الحرير المطرزِ

and masters of war whom its roar did not frighten,

Worthy of them is attaining martyrdom for their efforts,

nor did the brocade of embroidered silk turn them aside.

They pull the necks of the beast tethered.

حقيق بهم نيل الشهادة جهدهم

حقيق بهم نيل الشهادة جهدهم

يجذون أعناق البهيم المحجزِ

يجذون أعناق البهيم المحجزِ

Their striving makes them worthy of attaining martyrdom;

He came invading, wrongfully seeking loved ones,

they sever the necks of the hemmed-in brutes.

And poured with the hatred of the oppressors shaken.

أتي غازياً يبغي الأحبة عنوة

أتي غازياً يبغي الأحبة عنوة

يصب بحقد الجائرين المهوزِ

يصب بحقد الجائرين المهوزِ

He came as an invader, pursuing the loved ones by force,

He failed in his innermost evil thoughts,

pouring out the oppressors' hatred [unclear epithet].

And did not beware the stalwart men banded.

وقد خاب في أعماقه ما يطنه

وقد خاب في أعماقه ما يطنه

ولم يحترس صرم الرجال المحززِ

ولم يحترس صرم الرجال المحززِ

And what he imagined failed deep within him,

Had he known what would afflict him,

and he did not guard against the men's incisive resolve.

He would have pondered an era the injuries piercing.

ولو أنه يدري بما قد يصيبه

ولو أنه يدري بما قد يصيبه

لفكر دهراً في الجراح المنززِ

لفكر دهراً في الجراح المنززِ

And had he known what might befall him,

It escaped him that the truth shone clearly,

he would have pondered the oozing wounds for an age.

Illuminated by the light of the devout unambiguous.

وقد فاته أن الحقيقة أبلجت

وقد فاته أن الحقيقة أبلجت

تضىء بنور الزاهدين المفرزِ

تضىء بنور الزاهدين المفرزِ

And it escaped him that the truth had dawned,

shining with the ascetics' distinct light.
