باغي الصَّلاح تُقالُ عَثْرَتُهُ

باغي الصَّلاح تُقالُ عَثْرَتُهُ

وسِواهُ لا يُعْفى منَ الزَّلَلِ

وسِواهُ لا يُعْفى منَ الزَّلَلِ

The seeker of righteousness has his stumble forgiven;

The seeker of righteousness, his stumbles are said

while anyone else is not absolved of error.

While others are not excused from missteps

قتلَ الطَّبيبُ فلمْ يُقَدْ بدَمٍ

قتلَ الطَّبيبُ فلمْ يُقَدْ بدَمٍ

والثَّأرُ مَطْلوبٌ مِن البَطَلِ

والثَّأرُ مَطْلوبٌ مِن البَطَلِ

The physician killed, yet was not executed in retribution for bloodshed;

The doctor was killed, yet no blood-money was sought

while vengeance is demanded of the hero.

And vengeance is demanded from the hero
