The physician grew bold, though he was no Ibn Mukaddam,
The brave doctor, though not a hardened warrior,
among you, nor was he ʿAntar, the ever-charging warrior,
Is among you, and not Antar the renowned knight,

لجراحِ أشبالِ الهِزْبر الضَّاري
when he drew near with a sharpened iron blade
When he approached with his sharpened scalpel,

His time-honored wisdom protected him,
handed down from Ahmad, the Chosen One.
From the evil of deadly perils,

So I drove off my indignation’s fury by keeping my distance,
So I repelled with my wrath in my exile,
and routed the army of shame away from my faith.
And defeated those who disgraced my faith.
