The noble steeds strut in pride and dignity,

When their backs rise bearing Caesar's son,

A knight alike on his day of valor and his day of bounty,

Whose deeds dispel dust-clouds and swirling dust.

So he defends the protected ground while horses stumble over lances,

And offers guests their fare when the wind blows cold and fierce.

And he silences the clamor of calamities with his patience,

When the old camel of high endeavor flags and rumbles.

And he sends them forth, lionlike, at early forenoon,

    Leaving the dust-covered battlefields red.
