    ونُصْرةُ الدين إسماعيلُ واهِبُها

    The fleet steeds race to the finish lines, victorious;

    And Nusrat al-Din Isma'il is their giver.

    فمن ينالُ مَداها أو يُغالبُها

    They learned from him to take the lead in every noble deed;

    Who, then, can reach as far as they do, or rival them?

    The pure essence of nobility, a lavish giver despite scarcity,

    When the clouds of bounty's sky are miserly.

    And he strikes the horses with cleaving blows to their skulls,

    When the keen swords' cutting edges betray them.

    And between 'Awf and Warram, his glories

    Shine brightly when their lineages are recited.

    You sent her with bounty and generosity, unprompted:

    A red mare whose rider glories above the constellation al-Jawza.

    So I found no recompense other than a rhymed verse:

    The nights perish, but its glories never perish.
