الخُرْقُ يُرهبُ لكن الأناةَ لها

الخُرْقُ يُرهبُ لكن الأناةَ لها

عند التأيُّدِ أضعافٌ من الرَّهبِ

عند التأيُّدِ أضعافٌ من الرَّهبِ

Rashness inspires fear, but deliberation commands

The breach terrifies, but patience has

With steady resolve, many times as much dread.

Under stress, multiples of awe.

لا يأمنُ الدهر بأس الجمرِ لامسهُ

لا يأمنُ الدهر بأس الجمرِ لامسهُ

وقد يروحُ سليماً لامِسُ اللَّهبِ

وقد يروحُ سليماً لامِسُ اللَّهبِ

Whoever touches embers is never safe from their harm,

One cannot trust time’s ember-filled harm

Yet whoever touches flame may depart unharmed.

Though one grazing flames escapes unscarred.
