صُروف الليالي واستمر لها السَّعْدُ
May God protect Khuzaymah’s veils of eminence
May Allah protect the pillars of nobility from dishonor,
From the vicissitudes of the nights, and may good fortune endure for them.
The turns of nights continue to bring them good fortune.
فثمَّfor there التُّقىpiety الموروثinherited والحسبُand ancestral honor الذيthat

إذاwhen عُدَّare reckoned أحْسابُancestral honors الورىhumankind فهوthen it is العِدُّthe ancient, enduring one
إذا عُدَّ أحْسابُ الورى فهو العِدُّ
For there are inherited piety and the ancestral honor that,
Then comes the inherited piety and lineage that,
When mankind’s honors are reckoned, is the ancient, enduring one.
When the generations are counted, it is the highest.

You scaled the summits of glory, till you were obeyed
You have raised the cups of honor until you were obeyed,
And feared by gleaming swords and lean steeds.
And the white swords and armor feared you.

And you gathered scattered glory, until there came to you
You have gained scattered glories until the farthest,
The far-off lowlands of Ghawr and the heights of Najd, bearing its fullest measure.
Distant dunes and heights came to you.

Your darkness is dawn, lit by the fire of your hospitality,
Your darkness is a dawn with your castles aflame,
And your dawn is night, blackened by dust.
And your dawn is a night blackened with embers.

And indeed, between the two Dubayses, you have a source of pride:
Among the two encampments you have a pride,
When his days are recounted, glory prostrates itself.
That when its days are counted, glory bows down.
