مرضُ الحُبِّ شِفائي أبداً

مرضُ الحُبِّ شِفائي أبداً

كلَّما أكْرَبني أطْرَبَني

كلَّما أكْرَبني أطْرَبَني

Love's sickness is forever my cure.

My illness of love is never cured

Whenever it distresses me, it delights me.

The more it grows old, the more delighted I become

فبَقائي منْ فنائي فيكمُ

فبَقائي منْ فنائي فيكمُ

وسُروري منكُمُ في حَزَني

وسُروري منكُمُ في حَزَني

So my survival comes from my annihilation in you.

My existence is from my annihilation in you

And my joy from you lies in my sorrow.

And my joy is from you in my sorrow

واشتريتمْ بوصالٍ مُهْجَتي

واشتريتمْ بوصالٍ مُهْجَتي

ومنَ العَدْلِ أداءُ الثَّمَنِ

ومنَ العَدْلِ أداءُ الثَّمَنِ

And you bought my life's blood with union.

You bought my love with a union

And justice calls for payment of the price.

And justice is in paying the price

حُسْنُ ظني فيكمُ اذْ خِفْتُكمْ

حُسْنُ ظني فيكمُ اذْ خِفْتُكمْ

دونَ أعْمالي جميعاً جُنَني

دونَ أعْمالي جميعاً جُنَني

My good opinion of you, when I feared you,

My good thoughts of you, when I feared you

Is my protection, rather than all my deeds.

Despite all my deeds, is my insanity

واذا البلْوى أفادتْ قُرْبكُمْ

واذا البلْوى أفادتْ قُرْبكُمْ

فمنَ النُّعمى دَوامُ المِحَنِ

فمنَ النُّعمى دَوامُ المِحَنِ

And if affliction brings me near to you,

And if afflictions brought me your closeness

Then unceasing trials are a blessing.

Then from blessing, is the continuance of trials
