اُعيذُ يداً وقفاً على البأس والندى

اُعيذُ يداً وقفاً على البأس والندى

تسحُّهما في مُستجيرٍ ومُعْدمِ

تسحُّهما في مُستجيرٍ ومُعْدمِ

I seek protection for a hand devoted to valor and generosity,

I call out in the darkness for help to defend and protect

pouring both forth upon the refuge-seeker and the destitute,

Those in need of safety and deprived of provision

بألْطافِ ربِّ العرش من كل حادث

بألْطافِ ربِّ العرش من كل حادث

وشاملِ حِفْظِ اللّهِ من كل مؤلم

وشاملِ حِفْظِ اللّهِ من كل مؤلم

through the graces of the Lord of the Throne, from every calamity,

By the grace of the Lord of the Throne against all misfortunes

and through God's all-encompassing protection, from everything painful.

And under the all-encompassing protection of God from all suffering

تعوَّدَتِ الجودَ العميمَ بكلِّ ما

تعوَّدَتِ الجودَ العميمَ بكلِّ ما

حَوتْهُ فجادتْ للنُّطاسيِّ بالدَّمِ

حَوتْهُ فجادتْ للنُّطاسيِّ بالدَّمِ

It has grown accustomed to all-embracing generosity with all that

Generosity has become its habit with all it contains

it held, so it gave its blood to the skilled physician.

So it was generous to al-Nuṭāsī with blood
