    أبْلَجُ للدُّنيْا به رَوْنَقُ

    I praise him, fair of face;

Radiant, he lends the world its splendor.

Lavish with favors, his bounty ample,

Both the Syria-bound and the Iraq-bound praise him.

In his seat of honor, a lion in his ferocity,

And in composure, an unscalable, ash-gray mountain.

    Easy to lead, never unruly,

He wears no arrogance, nor acts rashly.

You find him a single man in number,

Yet when he plunges into battle, he is an army.

Keen on both edges against his foe,

His sword and his speech are alike.
