Hail the vizier, noble in every turn of his bearing—
Salute the minister, noble in his bearing,
rich in virtues, overflowing with beneficence;
Rich in noble deeds, overflowing with kindness;

ذهباً بفخر السيف والتَّهْتانِ
vigilant and radiant—his valor and his bounty
Vigilant and bright-faced—his might and bounty
have outstripped the pride of the sword and steady rain.
Have carried off the glory of the sword and pouring rain.

His fingertips pour forth, through sword and bounty,
His fingertips pour forth, through his sword and bounty,
what is sweetly white and what is deep crimson.
Sweet white water and crimson blood.

He fears no wrath of armies, now that
He fears no wrath of armies, now that
Time has turned toward the favor of the All-Merciful.
He has turned the times toward the All-Merciful’s approval.

For glory stemming from Abu Shuja abounds,
So glory, through Abu Shuja, remains undiminished,
under his protection like a noblewoman among jealous guardians.
In his safekeeping, like a jealous man’s noble wife.

O you who made justice overflow until it nearly
O you who poured forth justice until you nearly
gathered all the waters together with fires!
United the waters with the fires!

The merchants rejoiced; meanwhile, the husbandmen have places
The merchants were gladdened, but the farmers have their stations,
where they pour out sorrow's tears.
Where they let the tears of sorrow flow.

You, then, are the one appealed to for deliverance from what has afflicted
So help is sought from you against what has befallen
the village crops in the ravaging assault of pasturing herds.
The villages’ crops in the grazing herds’ ravaging assault.
