    God dispelled sorrow’s dark clouds, and they brightened

    With a clear white radiance from the dawn of joy.

    And drove calamity’s anguish far from the abode of glory,

    With blessing near at hand, its features plainly visible.

    وما زال ذا حِلْمٍ مع الخطب راجح

    And Bahāʾ al-Dīn is too dignified for his knee-band to fly loose;

    And he has ever possessed steadfast forbearance amid calamity.

    But keeping faith is the nature of his soul,

    And of his forefathers, toward everyone near and far.

    So may no bereavement from time revisit you after this,

    And may you ever be the death of crushing calamities.
