    Glory's embrace enfolds in him a firmly rooted mountain,

    beside whom Yadhbul and Yalamlam are dwarfed.

    And his innate forbearance forgives the gravest offense,

    when cultivated forbearance adorns men's character.

    واِنْ طرأ القوم العُفاة فخِضرِمُ

    When swift death reveals itself, he is a lion;

    and if the supplicant folk arrive, he is a sea of bounty.

    بمعروفهِ يُثري جَهولٌ ومُعْدمُ

    He is eminent and munificent in learning and generosity;

    through his kindness, the ignorant and the destitute grow rich.

    I attached myself to him: no wealth is too much for him

    to give, nor is dreaded terror too great.

    So I gave freely to supplicants from the overflow of his bounty,

    and the resolute armored warrior was humbled by my daring.
