Faith has become all smiles from overflowing joy,

Bright of countenance, since you are its star.

The sea nearly ebbs away in shame before him,

And a rival to it is adorned with all-embracing generosity.

Nor have we seen before him a lion in whom were united

His courage, generosity, knowledge, and understanding.

The army's armored champion flees when facing him,

Just as poverty fled from the bounty of his palm.

So may he ever pass from each feast to another like it,

And may battles and peace praise him for his two virtues.
