And in the abode between al-Sarat and the Tigris

is one whose domain is impregnable; his guest fears no harm.

The guest's comfort lasts long among his dwellings,

and his adversary suffers at his hands beneath the battle-dust.

When it is said, 'This is Mukhlis al-Din,' then the lances

are slaked, and bounty's rain pours down in torrents.

Radiant, far-reaching in goodness, full of high distinction,

when beheld, his signs of promise never deceive the eye.

And his shade has ever been blessed, and he a lord

obeyed in an age abounding in eminent men.
