ترفّقوا بفُؤادٍ ليسَ يَحْتَمِلُ

O you who forsake me, without fault or cause,

O you who left with no fault or cause

Be gentle with a heart that cannot endure.

Have mercy on a heart that cannot bear

حَمَّلْتمونِي من أَفْراطِ هَجْركُم

حَمَّلْتمونِي من أَفْراطِ هَجْركُم

ما لَيسَ يحملُه سهلٌ ولا جَبلُ

ما لَيسَ يحملُه سهلٌ ولا جَبلُ

You have burdened me, through your excessive abandonment,

You have burdened me with your excessive estrangement

With what neither plain nor mountain can bear.

More than any plain or mountain could bear

لأن جَفوتمْ فَبابُ العذر مُتّسِعٌ

لأن جَفوتمْ فَبابُ العذر مُتّسِعٌ

وإن قَطَعتُم فحبلُ الوِدِّ مُتّصِلُ

وإن قَطَعتُم فحبلُ الوِدِّ مُتّصِلُ

Since you have been harsh, the door to pardon stands wide.

For you were cold, yet the door of excuse is open

And if you have severed ties, the cord of affection remains unbroken.

And if you cut ties, the cord of love remains connected

أليسَ من عَجَبٍ أنّي أبثّكُم

أليسَ من عَجَبٍ أنّي أبثّكُم

شوقي وعندكم التَّفصيلُ والجُمَل

Is it not a wonder that I pour out to you

Is it not strange that I express to you
